Most of must know about the California Gold Rush, when gold was discovered at Sutter’s mill in Coloma, California. The gold miners were named the ‘forty–niners’. This gold rush had significant effects on San Francisco, which from being a small town became a big town housing 36,000 residents. But what do you about the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush?

It is the term describing the gold rush, which took place in Colorado between 1858-1991. Gold mining in the Pikes Peak exploded, and there was a boom in gold prospecting and mining in the Pike’s Peak Country. The people who took part in the gold mining were known as the ‘fifty-niners’, they were around 100,000. The whole expedition was led by William. G. Russell based on the rumors spread that there was gold in the mountains of Pike’s Peak. The ‘fifty’niners’ , comprising of miners from the gold fields of Georgia and California, were all in hunt for the gold. This incident led to the dramatic entry of immigrants in to Pike Peak’s country. The rush created two mining cities namely Denver city and Boulder City.
